UREPEL ad Gloriam Dei

FOOD. This ending month of May has been the last one for Urepel after I don't remember how many years, and I've dinned there - twice - during these last weeks as a sort of farewell.
The last day, I went with J.E. The food seemed to be better than ever. Javier, a white wine man, chose a Chardonnay from Somontano to drink with. Fish was creamy. Tomatoes fruity. The tiramisu ice cream dreamy.
It was a celebration for my new job, and in some way a farewell too to his last (business) adventure, happily merged now with a larger fish, specially for the stormy times we are living. But above all, it ended being a homage to Urepel itself.

FRENCH BREAD

FOOD. 6 months ago I bought a bread making oven at a bargain price - as you might recall from my LIDL Post at the time. Now I have found the Carrefour Farine à pain avec levure aux graines de tournesol (1Kg) at the Carrefour store at San Jean de Luz, just across the French border from San Sebastian. A few personal trial-and-error baking tricks, et voilá my French bread! For 99 cents you'll make 2 loafs like this one.

SHERWOOD FOREST in San Sebastian

SAN SEBASTIAN. I've got a new job. It's a "Robin Hood" job, and this is my Sherwood Forest!

MARTIAN DEBT

ECONOMICS. There is not such a thing as a global debt - this is basic economics arithmetic. There must be a lender to have a debtor, and the total sum equals 0. Yes, 0. Someone's deficit is some other's surplus. So please, lenders of the world don't be Scrooges and start spending. We'll make coffee for you to your taste, we'll make nice cars for you, we'll drive them for you too, we'll fan you with a fan on a hot day, make the fan too. Enjoy live, be happy, and we'll be more than happy to oblige ourselves.
It may sound like magic but it is just 2+2. After all this isn't anything else than basic accounting - Mr Scrooge, you know something about this, don't you?
Any volunteer for washing our "lender's" flashy brand new vehicle? :-)

VIVE LA INFLATION! (End this Depression Now)

ECONOMICS. I've just finished reading Economy Nobel Prize Winner Paul Krugman's latest book End this Depression Now. It is a very good book and well written too.
I'm myself only an "amateur" Economist but according to Mr. Krugman this crisis is not a structural one but mainly a demand one aggravated then by the wrong monetary policies. In other words: that we do not need to close factories and build them anew to solve it but to increase demand for the already build in capacity by monetary means, increasing expenditure and liquidity. Krugman calculates that a monetary supply that would lead up to a 4% inflation will put growth into the agenda vs. the "official" current 2% target in Europe, which will not.
Let's hope that after the French Presidential election this Sunday, whoever wins, leads Europe in this direction.
